4 Ways to Protect Your Skin

Did you know that the skin is the largest organ of the body? Yes it is. And it’s considered as our body’s coat, which protects us and keeps unwanted elements out of our system, such as dirt, virus, bacteria, and other germs. However, when the skin is damaged and irritated, these functions are lost, which leads to the development of certain skin problems, such as acne, rashes, allergies, and in severe cases, cancer.

Protect Your Skin

The good news is there are many things that you can do to protect your skin and prevent these skin conditions from developing. Here are some:

  1. Limit Sun Exposure. It’s true that our body needs sunlight. It’s our major source of Vitamin D, which is an essential vitamin that absorbs calcium, promoting bone growth. However, too much exposure to sunlight can damage our skin and cause certain skin conditions, like skin cancer.

The best way to protect your skin from sunlight is to limit your exposure to it. As much as possible, avoid going out between 10am and 4pm, when the sun’s rays are most intense. But if you need to go outdoors, make sure that you wear sunscreen and protective clothing to help protect your skin even while you’re in direct sunlight.

  1. Use Gentle Skincare. We all want to look our best, but many of us don’t realize that the products we use to look beautiful, such as makeup and other cosmetic aids, have some ingredients that may damage and irritate our skin. To protect your skin, it’s crucial to also limit the use of these products. But if you have to wear them often, opt for products that have sun-fighting properties and non-comedogenic ingredients.

It’s also crucial to wash your face twice daily with a mild cleanser. Make sure that you thoroughly wash it to remove your makeup and any dirt that may have entered your skin. Avoid using strong soap and scrubbing your face as these cause irritation that can lead to skin damage. If your skin is dry, apply moisturizer that is suitable for your skin type.

  1. Eat Healthy Diet. Eating healthily is crucial in maintaining and improving your skin’s health. Healthy foods, such as fruits, vegetables, and fish, are loaded with essential nutrients that are great for the body and skin.

So if you want to make your skin look younger and feel smoother, follow a healthy diet plan. As much as possible, avoid unhealthy and processed foods, as they contain unwanted ingredients that can harm our body and skin.

  1. Get Treatment. If you want to know more information how to improve your skin, prevent any skin disorders from developing, or treat any skin problems you have, then visit a dermatologist. A dermatologist is a qualified professional that has completed specific training and education to help people with skin problems manage their condition. Your dermatologist can help you find the right treatment for your specific case.

Just ensure that you go to someone who is licensed and qualified; and whatever treatment that your dermatologist prescribed, whether it’s a topical solution, an oral medication, or a home-use light-emitting device like Face-Up device, use it and follow the instructions exactly.
